Essay: Discussion on Miracles

Sample Essay

Evidence suggests that the event mentioned formerly occurred after the first event. This is because Simon Peters was aware of Jesus’ powers and trusted in His word and cast the net as soon as Jesus instructed him to do so. The second event appears occurred earlier as the men on the scene were unaware that it was the great Jesus who had given them the instruction and they were in awe of Jesus. Another difference between the two events is the methodology used by the fishermen in both events. The fishermen in the second event dragged the net ashore and could not haul it onto the boat. The fishermen in the other event, however, managed to haul the catch aboard and called for help.

In one of the events, it is the multitude of fish – the miracle that causes men to cry out ‘It is the Lord’ and to realize that Jesus is different from them. The fishermen from the second event realize their own sinful nature when they see Jesus perform such a miracle and gift them so generously. The reaction of the men in both events is sharply contrasting and therefore, the emotional states of the men in both situations were very different.
